i've just been kidnapped by gangsters for owing 80 grand!
or so the 'loan shark' on the phone is saying to my dad right now. mom just made a police report as my dad is keeping the scammer talking with realistic pleas and negotiations. heh, he's a good actor.
our valiant men in blue said they've received numerous identical complaints. these are desperate times. be careful and be safe, everyone.

haiz... what a sad case to hear about... and kudos on your dad for being so brave.
my dad was quite keen to assist the police, but we were eventually told to simply ignore the callers. think he was a little disappointed he wasn't involved in a dramatic stake-out-and-capture scenerio.
i am puzzled at the nonchalant manner the police handled this. Shouldn't this have been a good opportunity to nip those tricksters in the bud?
